Sikur has launched SIKURPhone, a smartphone with a cryptocurrency wallet in which users can securely store Bitcoins and other digital currencies.
The Brazilian computer security company Sikur presented its SIKURPhone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The smartphone has a built-in cryptographic wallet that offers the best security measures, according to the manufacturer. Sikur said he used hacker services to check if the device was safe to store Bitcoin and other digital coins, as reported by Engadget.
The company claims that the smartphone has resisted the attacks after being victim of “rigorous hacking tests for two months”.
Three years ago, Sikur launched its GranitePhone. The device boasted a similar security, but SIKURPhone has a new interface and can store Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on the company’s secure cloud.
The CEO of Sikur, Cristiano Iop, said: “The secure storage of information on our devices is one of our strengths. We have succeeded with browser and messaging security. Then we asked, why not do it with the cryptocurrency? ”
He revealed in an e-mail to CNBC that Sikur plans to extend its application: “At the end of the second quarter of 2018 we will deliver a cryptographic portfolio within our platform, expanding the use of the portfolio in addition to SIKURPhone, which means that our customers should be able, through a physical device, to securely store their cryptographic codes “.
The pre-sale started Tuesday, with the device priced at $ 799. It has medium specifications: a 5.5-inch Full HD display, 13 megapixel rear cameras and 5-megapixel front, 4 GB of RAM, 65 GB of storage space and a 2800 mAh battery. The smartphone will use a modified version of Android 7.0. The fingerprint authentication feature will ensure that users can recover their personal data after losing the device or having forgotten the password.
The SIKURPhone will be available for delivery in August 2018, with only 20,000 units offered at the pre-sale price.
